Job Summary – Correctional Health
The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) provides expert clinical guidance, education, and leadership within Correctional Health. The CRN assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational programs, competency validation, clinical care initiatives, and quality improvement activities for assigned units.
As a key member of the nursing leadership team, the CRN fosters professional nursing practice, ensures safe and effective care delivery, and supports resource accountability. The CRN mentors staff, promotes professional development, exemplifies ServiceFIRST behaviors, and facilitates compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education / Specialized Training / Licensure:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required
Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Texas
Related specialty certification or Nursing Professional Development Certification (NPD-BC) required within two years of employment
Basic Life Support from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program
Other certificates as required by unit/service
Work Experience:
Five (5) years of work experience in related clinical area required
Management / Leadership Experience:
Two (2) years of related clinical/leadership experience required
Communication Skills:
Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)
Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)
Writing / Correspondence, Writing / Reports
Proficiencies:
MS Word, P.C.
