About the Position:
Harris Health System is seeking a Lead Medical Technologist to oversee and assist in the technical activities of the Laboratory at LBJ Hospital. This role involves reviewing, organizing, and maintaining laboratory procedures and operations, as well as providing feedback and technical guidance to laboratory personnel. The Lead Medical Technologist will contribute to policy development, ensure staff stay current on laboratory techniques, and assist the supervisor with evaluations. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team in delivering exceptional diagnostic services within a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the review, organization, and maintenance of laboratory technical activities.
  • Provide input on policies, procedures, and new technical developments.
  • Offer feedback to supervisors on personnel performance for evaluations.
  • Ensure laboratory personnel maintain current knowledge of techniques, procedures, and equipment operation.


Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology/medical lab science, or chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Certification by ASCP, NCA, ABB, or AMT (MT, MLS, or MLT).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in applicable lab sections (e.g., chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, molecular, or flow cytometry).
  • Skills: Strong written communication skills for reports and correspondence; proficiency in MS Word, MS Outlook, and PC use.
  • Schedule: Must be available for weekends, holidays, flexible shifts, and overtime.
  • Hematology and Chemistry experience required (2 yr min) 
  • ASCP or other agency certification required
