About the Position
Harris Health System is seeking a Physician to join the Correctional Health team at the 1200 Clinic for 12-hour day shifts. This role offers the opportunity to work in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail.
Responsibilities include performing intake health assessments, managing urgent and chronic care conditions, and collaborating with advanced practice providers and multidisciplinary teams. You will work closely with Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies, nursing staff, and on-site services such as radiology, pharmacy, laboratory, dental, and nutrition services.
You will also coordinate with external hospitals when higher-level care is required and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Requirements
Education:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
Must obtain and maintain board certification within required timeframe
Licensure:
Active Texas Medical Board license
Active DEA license
Experience:
Completion of an ACGME-accredited 3- or 4-year residency program
Clinical Skills:
Proficiency in suturing, splinting, and EKG interpretation
Strong clinical judgment and patient care skills
